Consulting
services

Many college students are required to take a statistics course, or perhaps two, but this is generally not enough to prepare people to correctly handle designing, analyzing, and interpreting a study.

Whether you are working on a small project or a Ph.D. thesis, I can help you with

  • Designing your study

  • Building your data set

  • Analyzing your data

  • Interpreting the results

  • Writing and/or proofreading your report

I can also help you prepare to deliver presentations on your project.

Qualifications

My degrees include:

  • BA Pure Math/BA Statistics, University of Chicago, 1988

  • MS Statistics, University of Minnesota, 1990

  • MS Mathematics, University of Minnesota, 2000

  • Operations Management Science Ph.D. program, University of Minnesota, 1991–1993

Most important, I have the ability to communicate with people about statistics, even if they have taken little or no statistics.

I have patience, excellent communication skills, and a sense of humor.

Getting
started

Many people believe that since the statistician doesn’t know their subject area, they should just collect their data first and then contact the statistician to get it analyzed. Nothing could be further from the truth. It’s not uncommon for people to collect their data, only to discover that their design was so flawed that it is completely useless.

If you meet with me before starting your project, I can ask the right questions to make sure I understand your objectives and constraints, and then we can design a study that will help you answer your research questions. Because well designed studies are easier to analyze, that usually leads to a less expensive project.

Of course, if you already have your data, we can definitely still look at it, but if you haven’t started yet, it’s still a great time to talk. Use the Contact Us link to set up an initial meeting.
